Working as a chair renter

Do you rent a chair in a salon that uses Salonnare? This is how you work with your own environment, your schedule per salon, your booking page, the salon's POS and your rent invoices.

Working as a chair renter

Do you rent a chair as a self-employed stylist in a salon that works with Salonnare? Then you get your own environment: your calendar, your clients, your treatments and your booking page. The salon sees your appointments in its premises, but not your client records and not your revenue.

This article is for the renter. Do you rent out chairs yourself? Then read Chair rental.

Your own environment

  1. The salon invites you. You receive an email with a link.
  2. Enter your name and a password and accept the invitation. The invitation shows the agreed rent.
  3. Salonnare creates your own environment, with its own address. That is where you log in to manage your calendar, clients and treatments.

If you rent at several salons, you use the same environment everywhere: one calendar for all your locations.

Your environment is free as long as you rent at at least one paying salon. You then also get reporting, online payments, deposits and no-show fees. If you no longer rent anywhere, your environment simply keeps working on the free plan.

Connecting payments

In your own environment, go to Settings > Financial > Payment connect and connect your own Stripe or Mollie account. You do this once; it applies to every salon where you rent. The money from your own treatments comes in there directly.

Your schedule per salon

Go to Settings > Calendar > Rental locations and schedule. Per salon you see:

  • Fixed working days: choose the day and the times, add a second block if needed and click Save schedule.
  • Exceptions: a day that is different. Choose a date and Works that day (with times) or Does not work that day.

You cannot be in two salons at the same time. If your schedule overlaps with that of another salon, Salonnare tells you which salon it clashes with. Back to back is fine: the morning at one, the afternoon at the other.

Your schedule determines your working hours in your calendar and on your booking page, and on which days you appear in the salon as a staff member.

Treatments

You manage your own treatments yourself, with your own prices. If the salon also lets you perform its treatments, they appear in your environment in a separate category with the salon's name. The salon manages their name, price and duration; you can only book them on your days at that salon.

Booking pages

  • Your own booking page shows per day at which location you work.
  • On the salon's booking page you appear as a staff member on your days there. If a client chooses you, the appointment goes into your calendar and the client becomes your client.

Appointments

All your appointments are in your own calendar, including those in a salon. You create, reschedule and cancel them there. In the salon's calendar you see your own appointments and your schedule; there is a button there to your own calendar.

Checking out in the salon's POS

You check out in the salon's POS, on your working days there. Log in at the salon with your own account.

If the basket contains both your own treatments and products or treatments of the salon, the POS creates two receipts:

  1. Your receipt: your own treatments, with your company registration number and VAT number, paid into your own account.
  2. The salon's receipt: products and treatments of the salon. The money and the VAT go to the salon; you receive your product commission, which is offset against the rent.

You first check out your receipt, then the salon's. Each receipt has its own payment. As a renter you cannot sell packages or gift cards in the salon's POS. If the POS reloads while you are checking out your own receipt, the salon's part comes back into the basket by itself afterwards.

Under My receipts you see your own receipts again. Only the salon can refund a receipt of the salon.

Rent invoices

Each period the salon sends you a rent invoice: the agreed rent, with VAT, minus your commission on products sold. You receive it by email and find all your invoices in your own environment under Settings > Calendar > Rental locations and schedule, at Rent invoices. Payment goes directly between you and the salon; Salonnare collects nothing. If the balance is negative, the salon pays you. If there is nothing to settle for a period (no working days with rent per day and no product commission), you get no invoice for that period. Your product commission is not paid out separately: it is on the rent invoice, and at the salon under My commission it shows as settled through the rent invoice.

Stopping at a salon

Go to Rental locations and schedule and click Stop at this salon next to the salon. Choose:

  • On a date: your last day at the salon. Up to and including that day everything works as it does now.
  • Immediately: access to the salon's calendar and POS stops right away.

If there are still appointments at that salon after the end, you see them in a list. Reschedule them in your calendar (Go to my calendar) or cancel them: per appointment with Cancel, or all at once with Cancel all appointments and email the clients. The client then receives the regular cancellation email. Only when no appointments remain after the end can you stop.

Your clients, appointments and history remain yours. After your last day you no longer appear in that salon's calendar, POS and booking page, and that salon's treatments in your environment lapse. The last rent invoice still follows, up to and including your last day.

If the salon sets an end, you receive a notification with your last day. Only whoever requested the end can withdraw it.
