Running a promotion is a great way to fill quiet time slots, welcome new clients or reward regulars. With Salonnare you create promotions that you apply at the Point of Sale -- with or without a discount code.

Promotions are part of the **Starter** plan and higher. On the free plan you will not see the Promotions tab.

Where do I find promotions?

You manage promotions under Inventory. There is a row of tabs at the top -- click the Promotions tab.

Creating a promotion

  1. Go to Inventory and open the Promotions tab.
  2. Click New promotion.
  3. Fill in the details:
    • Name -- A recognisable name for yourself (for example "Summer discount 10%").
    • Discount code -- Optional. The word clients enter, for example SUMMER20. Leave it empty for a promotion without a code that you apply manually.
    • Type -- Choose from:
      • Percentage (%) -- A percentage off (for example 10% off).
      • Fixed amount (€) -- A fixed amount off (for example 5 euros off).
      • First visit -- A percentage off that only applies to clients with no previous order.
    • Value -- The number: for percentage and first visit the percentage, for fixed amount the amount in euros.
    • Applies to -- Choose what the discount covers:
      • Everything -- The whole order.
      • Services only -- Treatments only.
      • Products only -- Products only.
      • Specific items -- Pick the treatments and/or products the discount applies to.
    • Start date / End date -- Optional. Leave empty for a promotion that is always valid.
    • Max. uses -- Optional. Limit how often the promotion may be used in total.
    • Min. order amount -- Optional. The promotion only works from a certain order amount.
  4. Click Save.
Keep codes short and easy to remember. A code like `WELCOME` works better than `DISCOUNTCODE2026SPRING`.

Applying a promotion at the Point of Sale

When a client has a discount code:

  1. Build the order in the Point of Sale as usual.
  2. Click Discount code.
  3. Type the code and apply it.
  4. The discount appears on the order.

Salonnare automatically checks whether the promotion is valid: the right date, the maximum uses not yet reached, the minimum order amount met, and -- for a first-visit promotion -- whether the selected client has no previous order. If the promotion is invalid, you see a message explaining why.

A **first visit** promotion only works if you select a client at the Point of Sale. Without a linked client, Salonnare cannot check whether it really is a first visit.

Pausing or editing a promotion

  1. Go to Inventory > Promotions.
  2. Click the pencil icon on the promotion to change its settings, or use the switch in the row to set the promotion to inactive.
  3. Click Save.

Use the filter buttons at the top (All / Active / Inactive / Expired) to filter quickly by status. For promotions with a usage limit you see the number of times used next to the limit, for example 3/100×.

Be careful with promotions without an end date and without a maximum number of uses. If a code is shared widely, you could give away more discount than planned. To be safe, set a maximum number of uses.
