Promotions & Discount Codes

Running a promotion is a great way to fill quiet time slots, welcome new clients, or reward your regulars. With Salonnare, you can create discount codes that work at the register and on your online booking page.

Creating a Discount Code

  1. Go to Marketing in the sidebar.

  2. Open the Promotions tab.

  3. Click New promotion.

  4. Fill in the details:

    • Code -- The word or phrase clients type in, for example SUMMER20 or WELCOME10.
    • Discount type -- Choose between a percentage (like 20% off) or a fixed amount (like 10 euro off).
    • Discount value -- The actual number (20 for 20%, or 10 for 10 euro).
    • Valid from / Valid until -- Set a start and end date. Leave blank if the code should work right away or never expire.
    • Max uses -- Limit how many times the code can be used in total. Leave blank for unlimited.
    • Per-client limit -- Limit how many times the same client can use it (great for one-time welcome codes).
    • Minimum order value -- The code only works when the order reaches a certain total.
    • Active -- Turn the code on or off instantly.
  5. Click Save.

Keep your codes short and easy to remember. A code like `WELCOME` works better than `DISCOUNTCODE2026SPRING`.

Using a Code at the Register

When a client mentions they have a discount code:

  1. Build the order in the POS as you normally would.
  2. At checkout, click Discount code.
  3. Type in the code and click Apply.
  4. The discount appears on the order. Done!

If the code is invalid, expired, or already used up, you will see a clear message explaining why it did not work.

Using a Code on the Online Booking Page

If your booking page is set to show prices, clients can enter a discount code themselves during the booking process. They type it in on the confirmation step, and the discount is applied in real time before they confirm.

This is perfect for running social media promotions -- just share the code and let clients apply it when they book.

Pausing or Editing a Promotion

Need to stop a promotion temporarily? No need to delete it.

  1. Go to Marketing > Promotions.
  2. Find the promotion you want to change.
  3. Click on it to open the details.
  4. Turn off the Active toggle to pause it, or change any of the settings.
  5. Click Save.

You can turn it back on whenever you are ready.

Tracking How Well a Promotion Is Working

Head over to Reporting > Promotions to see the numbers for each code:

  • Uses -- How many times the code has been applied.
  • Total discount given -- The total value of all discounts from this code.
  • Revenue generated -- The total order value on orders where this code was used.

This helps you figure out which promotions are actually bringing in extra revenue and which ones are just giving discounts on bookings that would have happened anyway.

Be careful with codes that have no expiry date and no usage limit. If a code gets shared widely online, you could end up giving away more discounts than planned. Consider setting a max uses limit for safety.
