Recording colour formulas

Record structured colour formulas per client -- brand and line, base shade, target shade, dosage, developer, staff member and notes. The latest formula is shown prominently on the client card, so on a follow-up visit you see the right recipe at a glance.

Recording colour formulas

Colour formulas let you record a client's exact colour recipe in a structured way, instead of loose notes in the notes field. Each formula stores the brand, the base and target shades, the dosage and the developer. On a follow-up visit you see the latest formula right at the top, so you can repeat the result without searching.

Where to find it

Colour formulas live on the client card. Open a client via Clients and scroll to the Colour formulas section.

Adding a colour formula

  1. Open the client and go to the Colour formulas section.
  2. Click Add.
  3. Fill in the fields:
    • Date -- when the formula was applied (defaults to today).
    • Brand / line -- the brand and product line, for example Wella Koleston. (required)
    • Base shade -- the starting colour, for example 7/0.
    • Target shade -- the desired end colour, for example 6/77. (required)
    • Dosage (g) -- the number of grams of product.
    • Developer (%) -- the percentage of the developer/oxidant.
    • Staff member -- who carried out the colouring (or leave it on None).
    • Notes -- room for processing time, deviations or other points of attention.
  4. Click Save.
**Brand** and **target shade** are the only required fields. Fill in the rest as far as relevant -- the more complete, the easier it is to repeat the recipe later.

The latest formula front and centre

Salonnare shows the newest formula at the top, with the label "Latest formula" and the date. Below it appear the staff member and any notes. If you have recorded several formulas, you see only the latest by default; click Show all to expand the full history (and Show less to collapse it again).

Each formula is summarised on a single line in the form:

Brand · base shade → target shade · dosage g · developer %

Editing or deleting a formula

Next to each formula are two buttons:

  • Edit (pencil icon) -- opens the same form with the existing values, so you can adjust and save them again.
  • Delete (trash icon) -- removes the formula permanently.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference from the regular notes? Colour formulas are structured: each field (brand, shades, dosage, developer) is stored separately, so you find recipes consistently and the latest formula automatically rises to the top. The notes field on the client card remains available for general remarks.

Can I see the full history? Yes. Click Show all below the latest formula to see all earlier formulas for that client, sorted from newest to oldest.
